The Start of MK Financial Planning Ltd

MK Financial Planning Ltd was born in July 2005. 16 years ago I left my safe career in Lloyds Bank as a Financial Adviser and took the massive step to set up my own company.

I remember trying to find a name was the hardest part –Who would have thought?

MK Financial Planning Ltd was born after weeks of struggle. So many forms, so many meetings, so many headaches. I think the actual name of the company was the hardest decision. I never thought or wanted to use my initials but after weeks of struggling, it felt like my only option. I remember wanting MK Financial Services, but that already existed.

My only choice was MK Financial Planning Ltd

I signed up to this low cost online firm who set up companies.

I vividly remember sitting in my dining room at my computer which was housed in a cupboard built for computers.

There were no fanfares or champagne.

I don’t recall, but I imagine I wasn’t truly happy as the name wasn’t my real choice.

I Needed An Office!

An acquaintance from HSBC and Lloyds bank, Paul Harris of Interplan, also owned and let offices.

When I saw him and mentioned it, he kindly said, take his office and he will share with his staff.

Over the years, Paul Harris has been one of the nicest and kindest people and mentors anyone could hope for.

I honestly believe that he came into my life for a purpose and he fulfilled his duties with perfection. I continued renting from him until the very end in March 2020.

Next door to our original office, which was called the Old Bank Buildings. Which was an old Lloyds Bank..

We named this office -
Financial House.

Paul and Matthew Harrisson helped me build MK Financial Planning Ltd over the years and when it came time for me to take a step down, they helped me.

They created MKFP Ltd

A final word of special thanks to Paul Oldham who put up with me for over 16 years.

We worked together in a Bank and we kind of liked each other too.

After leaving the Bank, I met up with him in a local pub and offered him a job. I thought it was a long shot as he had a career in the Bank. I didn’t realise he hated working in the Bank and liked the idea of working with me.

Paul stayed with me till the end -

I would like to say thanks to them. After 16 years of running MK Financial Planning Ltd and helping over 6,000 clients, 100’s of staff and adding multiple millions to clients pensions, solving clients financial troubles and putting a smile on a few faces – MK Financial Planning Ltd comes to an end.

This whole site is more for me to let MK Financial Planning go in my mind. It has been my baby for 16 years.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I have in creating it.
